Ambedkar Scholarships Distributes 70 Scholarships or Rs.5,000 Each to Dalit Students on February 24, 2007 in Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, India

Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, February 23, 2007 Ambedkar Scholarships is set to distribute 70 scholarships of Rs.5,000 each to students from Dalit and scavenging communities in Andhra and Tamilnadu. These scholarships are sponsored by individuals from all over the globe.

Ambedkar Scholarships started with just two scholarships in 2003 to help bright but economically backward Dalit children from Government schools in Andhra Pradesh. This year 70 scholarships of Rs.5,000 will distributed in a function at Munnur Kapu Kalyana Mandapam Pragatinagar, (Beside Kapila Hotel), Nizamabad on February 24, 2007 at 1.30pm. In this function Dalit writer and scholar Kalaprapurna Dr Endluri Chinnaiah will be felicitated. Nizamabad collector Mr ISS Naresh will be the chief guest. Collector of Adialabad Mr R Subba, Nizamabad MP Mr Madhu Yaskhi Goud, BSP state president Mr Surya Prakash and other dignitaries from AP, Tamilnadu, and Maharashtra will be present in the function.

So far Ambedkar Scholarships helped 67 students in Andhra Pradesh in the past 3 years. This year a new project is started to help the children from scavenging families. In an ambition to expand it all over India, Ambedkar Scholarships started its activities in Tamilnadu starting from this year by giving a few scholarships to children from Scavenging families in Chennai. Ambedkar Scholarships also involved in helping victims of worst caste atrocities in a small way. Ambedkar Scholarships derive donors from all walks of life around the globe.
