Highlights of the Scholarship distribution function held

on January 13, 2006.

 

Highlights:

  • The function was a great success. A total of 150-160 people attended the function and conducted in an atmosphere charged with joy and encouragement.
  • A total of 37 Scholarships were awarded in the function as against 36 announced earlier.
  • An instantaneous scholarship was announced and distributed in the function. Last year it was Dr Berwa who announced an instantaneous scholarship. This year it was a guest, Mr Pilli Rajvardhan Rao (Br Rao’s brother) who announced this 37th scholarship to Mr Bandi Srinivasulu son of B Venkataswamy of Mahaboobnagar District.
  • All 34 scholars (except 2 from Punjab and B Srinivasulu) attended the function with one or two of their kith and kin.
  • Prof Kancha Ilaiah (Chief guest) and Mrs Jhansi (guest speaker) delivered a message which enthralled the audience.
  • Mr Benjamin Paul Kaila’s message was read by Master Pratheek (Devdas’s son) aged 13 and Ms Sravani (Lukeanand Paul Kaila’s daughter) aged 9 and was well received by the audience.
  • The photos of 2003 and 2004 functions were displayed at the entrance. Video of 2004 function was also exhibited at the function giving the audience a scope to learn what we did before.
  • Br Chandrabhan Prasad of Pioneer wrote an article in The Pioneer newspaper. It will be translated and published in several other languages including Telugu (Vartha), Hindi (Rashtriya Sahara). Disappointments:

  • None of the Mainstream newspapers in India covered this event though every news agency is informed about the function. This is a second time they ignored our function, may be with an intention.
