Good evening everybody !!!

Respected Chief Guest Sri. Kancha Ilaiah, Speacial Speaker, Mrs. Jhansi KV Kumari, Guest of Honour Mr Victor Babu, Mr Vijaya Vardhana Rao , other guests, audience & the Ambedkar Scholars,

It is my pleasure to present the 3rd Ambedkar Scholarships report.

This Scholarships program was started with a noble cause to give away of Scholarships to the poor and intelligent students to augment their studies, as many of the students drop/suffer due to lack of finance. With this kind  of gesture , the SS was started by Mr. Benjamin Paul  Kaila, a Software Engineer now in USA and native of Guntur Dist. and was a student like you. He is residing USA for last 10 years and continuously striving to establish this kind of scholarships along with like minded people across the globe.

The criteria for this ss is that the student must have passed 10th class in the previous year with merit marks and taken admission in Intermediate with Science group and from the dalit community with poor back ground. The marks obtained are added along with marks awared for the essay written by them which was corrected by us for 10 marks, thus final merit was obtained and selected. This means merit along with Economic criteria was taken into account while selection. Please note that none of the scholars are related to any of the donors.

This program was established in 2003 with just 2 ss sponsored by Mr. Paul himself and he has deposited Rs. 2,40,000/- for 10 years in a bank and he is giving away these ss with the interest earned on this amount. At present he is sponsoring 4 ss and 2 more ss are sponsored by his two minor children out of their pocket money. This shows his dedication to the students of Dalit community basing on the principle “pay back to the society”.

In the year 2004, the function was held at this place and we could gave away only 22 scholarships sponsored by various dalits settled in USA, Canada, UK and India. We are glad to give this report that this year we are giving 36 scholarships adding one more country in our basket that is a ss sponsored by  Mr. B. Victor Babu, Principal, Tanzania and he is our guest of honor for today’s function. And he has promised to continue to support in future also.. This program is run by committed individuals sparing their time, money and energy and making this project a success.

I must thank Dr. Jayaraju, District  Sessions Judge, Medak who was our CG last year and with his inspired speech we could charge the participants and scholars last year. You can see the Video recording which is shown at the entrance.   Last year function was attended by Dr. Berwa, a medical professional from USA and he has announced one SS instantaneously.

I must thank Mr. Anand Paul brother of Benjamin Paul and Mr.  P.Vijayvardhan Rao for their whole hearted commitment towards the project and with out their active participation today’s function is not at all possible.

 
While summing up,  as on today  we have disbursed 62 SS sofar. That means we have distributed Rs. 310,000.00 and the growth is very very encouraging and continuing and increasing our confidence in the project.
